Representative Wuchner and Governor Fletcher Tour Northern Kentucky
Covington, KY, Sept. 13-State Representative Addia Wuchner joined Governor Fletcher today in activities and check presentations in several Northern Kentucky areas.
Representative Wuchner and Governor Fletcher began their day at the Boone County Annual Senior Citizens Picnic. They took this opportunity to meet with seniors and hear their concerns.
Following the picnic, the Governor and Representative Wuncher hosted the check presentation at Camp Ernst Middle School, where $99,000 was presented for the Safe Routes to School Program. Representative Wuchner said, "I am very pleased that Camp Ernst Middle School is a recipient of the Safe Routes to School Grant, that when completed will create a safer route for walking and bicycling to school and emphasize the importance of safety and healthier lifestyles."
Representative Wuchner continued, "I hope that in October 2007, Camp Ernst Middle School will be participating in the International Walk to School Day, which includes 5,000 schools from all 50 states. Walkers from the United States will join children, parents, school teachers in 40 countries from around the world for this global event to celebrate the many benefits of walking and increasing physical activity among children."
Later in the afternoon, Representative Wuchner and Governor Fletcher held a round table meeting with community leaders. Wuchner said the community was represented from an array of areas, which included education, banking, small business, faith-based, non-profit, minorities, law enforcement and safety officials. The purpose of this meeting was to discuss their ideas, concerns and offer solutions to community problems.
A check presentation at the Behringer-Crawford Museum was the final tour stop. Governor Fletcher, along with Representative Wuchner, presented a check to museum officials to complete the final phase of the museum expansion project. Of the visit, Representative Wuchner said, "I was delighted to have Governor Fletcher visit our community today and appreciate the investment being made in our future in regard to our seniors, our children, and all of the citizens in the Commonwealth of Kentucky."
